LOVE IS IN THE AIR
I never in a thousand years thought breeding would be such a beautiful experience. In the beginning I was concerned that they would not "know what to do" some said that since they live like a pack they may not breed together, others thought Legend may be too young and may need to go outside of the pack for the first time. Then there were the horror stories of holding the female, positioning the male, and worse after they do tie the female could freak out, begin screaming, become aggressive or try to run. I was also warned if left alone the rest of the pack could become violent towards either dog especially if there was any screaming or struggle.
In Mid April, Quoia began her heat cycle and I paid close attention to details. Her and Legend immediately fell in love. They would lay with > each other, groom each other, and nuzzle one another. There was a tenderness that began between the two of them. I will admit after a few weeks of this I became worried that nothing else was happening. Apparently I was just impatient. One morning I woke up and saw the two of them tied in the middle of the yard, I ran out to them my heart pounding hoping everything went smoothly. Well once out there it was clear they did not need me. There was no screaming, no aggression. They both just patiently waited. As I knelt down beside them for support the rest of the pack followed me. They got about 5 feet away from the two love birds and ALL immediately stopped. You could see that the others were respectful of Quoia > and Legends space and did not approach. The following day after I let Quoia outside you saw her and Legend frolicking in the far back of the woods. About 10 minutes later I saw they were tied again. The moment I stepped outside the rest of the pack came over to me ( as usual) and as we headed past the barn to the back of the woods they all followed. It was not until we reached the stone wall about 5 feet from the two that once again everyone stopped, looked over to be sure everything was okay and then turned and walked away. I never in a thousand years thought breeding would be such a beautiful thing to watch. Quoia and Legend were in love, gentle, sweet and lovable to each other. The rest of the pack was respectful and gave them the space they needed. It truly was an amazing experience to watch. No Horror stories here....Just love.
